United States V. SOHRAM SHARMA


  • Case Summary: IIan T. Graff, the Attorney for the United States, Acting Under Authority Conferred by 28 U.S.C. § 515, announced that SOHRAB SHARMA, a/k/a “Sam Sharma” was sentenced today to eight years in prison because of his leading role in a scheme to manipulate victims into investing over $25 millions worth of digital funds into Centra Tech, Inc. This company is based in Miami where they offer cryptocurrency-related financial products. In addition, during his previous years he also pled guilty to conspiring to commit securities fraud, wire fraud and mail fraud.

  • Charges: Conspiracy to commit securities fraud (Title 18, U.S.C. Section 1348) Mail Fraud (Title 18, U.S.C. Section 1343) Wire Fraud (Title 18, U.S.C. Section 1343)

  • Case Verdict: Sharma pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit securities fraud, mail fraud and wire fraud in July 2020. His trial was set to start in November 2020, but pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to eight years in prison. SHARMA, 29, of Aventura, Florida, was sentenced to 8 years in jail, three years of supervised release, and a $20,000 fine in addition to his prison term. In addition, he was told to forfeit $36,088,960.
